Thank you to all the parents who ordered from the book party. The Usborne books are nice quality and the Shine-A-Light Series are very popular with students. It is not too late, orders can still be made online until Friday, December 14th. Be sure to order under Mrs. Abesa's class so that we get the free books for our classroom library. If you are having any difficulty ordering please let me know.

A huge thank you to parents who came in today and helped with Santa's Workshop! Students made some awesome ornaments!
This Friday 1st and 2nd graders are hosting Mass. The following students have reading parts and should practice at home in front of parents: Sofia, Frank, Cecilia, Hadley, and Georgia. Thank you Cecilia for writing your prayer petition at home with parent help, nice job!
Students will have play practice on Wednesday and Thursday. The performance will be Thursday evening. I look forward to seeing you there.
Homework for the week - Read each night with a parent and finish math work if you didn't complete it during class time.
Progress reports are being sent home on Wednesday. Please sign and return the envelope by Friday. Thank you.

If you need a fantastic Christmas gift for a child come see some amazing books in Mrs. Abesa's classroom! When? *tomorrow, 12/4 between 3:00 and 4:00. I look forward to seeing your there!

Congratulations to Lane, Beth, Allie, Nate, Frank, Sofia, Landon, Hadley, Ellie, Makaela, Stella, Raegen, Isaiah, and Vanessa for earning 100% on your spelling test! You have no spelling home work this week!

This Thursday, students will start designing a zip line carrier. It is our new STEM challenge to go with Lon Po Po, a little red riding hood story from China. Students are welcome to bring in items from home that may be used in their design. (some examples: yogurt or butter container, a small basket, string, or clips) Be creative! The carrier must hold 3 bear counters and slide on the zip line. It also must attach without taking the zip line apart.

We would love to have extra parent help next Monday 12/10 during workshop time 9:30 to 11. Please join us for Santa's Workshop. We will be making Christmas craft projects.

Books for needy children - Our class is working on a special service project. Students may bring in a new or like new book to be given as a Christmas present to a child in need.

Homework for the week - Reading, Math, Spelling unless you earned 100% on your test.

I hope all of enjoyed a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend with family and friends.
This week we will begin our next fairy tale STEM challenge. On Thursday, students will listen to a Red Riding Hood story from China called Lon Po Po. Next Thursday, 12-6 students will start their STEM challenge.
*December volunteer schedules will go home this week.
**Be sure to stop by our classroom on Tuesday, December 4th to see some amazing books! We will have a book party from 3:00 to 4:00

Thanksgiving Prayer
Thank you God for all my students who come to school excited to learn.
Thank you God for all the wonderful parents who help in class with our many projects.
Thank you God for the the caring teachers/staff at Saint Paul Parochial School.
Thank you God for the many blessings we receive each day.

Students did an amazing job on the Social Studies project with the help of patient parents! Way to go 1st and 2nd graders. Thank you parents!
Reminders:
*REAL family activity Tuesday, 11/20 - Thank you families for sending socks and gloves to class. We will put them into bags for the needy with a cheerful note.
*November Birthdays - celebration will be on Wednesday, 11/21 from 10:30 to 10:50.
Happy Birthday to Beth, Georgia, Allie, and Ray (Parents of these students may bring a treat.)
*Book Party coming to SPPS! Stop by Mrs. Abesa's classroom after school and look through some fantastic books on December 4th, 3:00 to 4:00 pm. They will make great Christmas gifts!

Please join us tomorrow for morning prayer. Six students from our class will share the Thank You Prayer that they wrote. Great job 1st and 2nd graders - you all had special prayers. I enjoyed listening to you share them in class.
Our classroom will be very busy this Thursday as students finish typing, coloring artwork, and put their posters together. Thank you parents for your help on this project. Schedules are coming home today with your children if you signed up.
Our class  is making a box for Operation Christmas Child. Students have the opportunity to share $1.00 with a needy child. They may buy an item to put in the box or bring a dollar to school to help pay for the $9.00 shipping charge. This is meant to be a gift from your child. We are encouraging students to take money from their allowance or do chores to earn the money. Items and money are due this Friday.

This Friday, the 1st/2nd grade class is hosting Mass. Please join us at 12:30. The following students have reading parts: Lane, Vanessa, Raegen, Addy, Isaiah, and Beth. We practiced in church today and students did very well. They need to work on using a loud voice and eye contact. Please help them practice at home.

Thank you to all the parents helping with our Native American Social Studies Project. Each group will read and write facts tomorrow with a parent.
Nov. 15th - groups with work on their poster with a parent.
Nov. 19th - groups will make a model dwelling for their tribe with a parent. This is the STEM link. Please have your child start collecting materials for the dwelling. Remember, Native Americans used things found in nature. For example sticks could be used as logs or wood.

Our school will be working on a service project this month. We are collecting items for the needy and putting them in zip lock bags with a special note written by students. The first and second graders are being asked to bring in a new pair of socks or mittens. Each class is bringing in different items. Students will meet in REAL Families and put the bags together with the notes.
